Quick Answer: Almost anything from a household cleanout or renovation can go in a rental dumpster — furniture, boxes, drywall, lumber, carpet, yard waste and general junk. The exceptions are short, specific, and all have a proper destination in Colorado Springs.
• Yes: furniture, household junk, construction debris, yard waste
• No: appliances with Freon, batteries, liquids, electronics, tires
• Heavy debris like concrete needs a dedicated bin — call us
• Sorting before you load saves money and avoids rejected items
The short version: if it came out of a house or a renovation and it is not a liquid, a battery, an electronic or a Freon appliance, it goes in the bin. Here is the full picture, plus where each excluded item actually goes.
What Can Go in a Rental Dumpster?
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Household junk | Boxes, clothing, toys, kitchenware, general clutter |
| Furniture | Couches, tables, chairs, dressers, bed frames, mattresses |
| Construction debris | Drywall, lumber, trim, cabinets, countertops, roofing |
| Flooring | Carpet, pad, tile, laminate, hardwood, underlayment |
| Yard waste | Branches, leaves, brush, sod, landscaping debris |
| Fixtures | Sinks, tubs, toilets, vanities, light fixtures, doors |
Mixed loads are fine. You do not need to separate drywall from furniture from carpet — that is the whole point of renting a bin instead of making twelve sorted trips.
What Can't Go In?
• Refrigerators, freezers and A/C units — Freon must be recovered first
• Car batteries
• Liquids — wet paint, oil, gas, stain
• TVs and monitors — banned from Colorado landfills
Every one of those has a local destination, and most of them are free. What can't go in a dumpster covers the full list and where each item goes.
What About Heavy Debris?
Concrete, dirt, rock and asphalt do not go in a standard bin at any size. They hit the 2-ton weight allowance long before they fill the volume, so they need a dedicated heavy-debris container. Call 719-686-8613 and we will set it up. Concrete disposal explains how it works.

Why Sorting First Saves You Money
Two reasons. Anything on the restricted list has to be pulled and handled separately, which costs money. And every cubic foot of recyclable cardboard in your bin is space you paid for that a free drop-off would have taken.
Flatten boxes, pull the obvious recycling, and run one trip to the El Paso County Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 3255 Akers Dr with the chemicals before the bin arrives. Our disposal guide covers the local facilities.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I mix different types of debris in one dumpster?
Yes. Furniture, drywall, carpet and yard waste can all go in the same bin. Only the restricted items and heavy debris need separating.
Can I put yard waste in a dumpster?
Yes. Branches, leaves and landscaping debris are one of the most common loads we haul, especially from acreage properties around Monument and Black Forest.
What happens if I put something restricted in the bin?
It has to be pulled and disposed of separately, and that gets billed. Tell us if you are unsure about an item — a two-minute call beats a line on the invoice.
Not sure about an item?
Call and ask. We would rather answer the question than pull it out of the bin later.
